Cooking: stove, oven and the small helpers
The L-shaped counter gives two people room to cook at once: one at the glass cooktop, one at the sink. Above the worktop the black-and-white patterned tiles run along both walls, under dark grey cabinets.
A market dinner on the cooktop
Bring herbs, vegetables and seafood from the local market and cook them the way you like. Pots and pans are in the cabinets.
Baking and roasting in the oven
Roast vegetables, warm bread or bake something for the kids' afternoon.
Quick breakfast
The kettle boils water for tea or instant coffee, the toaster browns the bread, and the air fryer makes crispy eggs or snacks without a pan.
Rice cooker and microwave
Rice for the whole table
The rice cooker makes rice to go with Vietnamese dishes, whether cooked at home or brought back from the street kitchen.
Leftovers and take-away
The microwave stands on a black shelf rack above the air fryer. Warm up yesterday's banh mi fillings or the soup that was too much for dinner.

The kitchen is next to the living room, so the cook still hears the TV and the conversation. Drinks and food go up to the rooftop for BBQ evenings. After dinner the group moves on to the entertainment room for karaoke or the PlayStation.
